You know your child is creative. You've heard them tell elaborate stories, explain how things work, and argue their case at the dinner table with the skill of a tiny lawyer. But when you look at their written work from school, it tells a completely different story, with short sentences, simple words, and ideas that barely scratch the surface.

If your child has dysgraphia, writing is uncomfortable (hand cramps) and letters uneven. They write slowly, and because of this, much of the brain power is spent on just getting things down. Students who struggle with transcription often write far below their actual ability, and research shows that their written work frequently fails to reflect the richness of their vocabulary or the depth of their thinking.

If you've ever watched your child write on a computer, you've probably seen it happen. They type a sentence. A red squiggly line appears under a word. They stop. They try to fix it. They can't figure out the right spelling. They try again. By the time they move on, they've forgotten what they were trying to say in the first place.

As parents with a child with extreme dysgraphia we saw a gap. Existing spell checkers aren't designed for the kinds of spelling attempts children with dysgraphia produce. Our own child was incredibly frustrated by these tools. They might write "bkos" for "because," and traditional tools simply can't make that connection. Lignis can.
